A Linenbacked Commercial Poster (measures 29 1/2" x 45 1/2" [75 x 116 cm]) (Learn More) You Don't Have to be Jewish to Love Levy's Real Jewish Rye, the 1960s and 1970s ad campaign created by Doyle Dane Berbach, Judy Protas and William Taubin. The campaign (which shows many people who are of various ethnicities that are clearly not Jewish!) was started in 1961 to promote the bread to a wider audience, and the posters appeared mainly in New York's subways. As a result of the ads, sales of Levy's bread soared, and the campaign was admired by people as varied as Walter Winchell and Malcolm X. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had very minor fold wear and a few minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that the poster was backed with wide excess linen and there are some creases and stains in that excess linen, but of course, some of the excess could be simply trimmed off. Also, there are some scattered small stains on the back of the linen, but they don't affect the front, and of course, will not show when the poster is displayed. Learn More about condition grades
