An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More)

A Fool There Was, the 1922 Emmett J. Flynn silent romantic love triangle infidelity melodrama ("The story of a woman who lived to love and a fool who loved and died"; "Porter Emerson Browne's Dramatic Masterpiece"; "Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's poem 'The Vampire'"; about a man who falls in love with a "bad" woman, and he ruins his life pursuing her, and he decides to kill her so he can be free of her, but he dies himself by accident!) starring Estelle Taylor (as "The Vampire"), Lewis Stone, Irene Rich, Muriel Frances Dana, and Marjorie Daw. Note that there was a 1915 version of this movie starring Theda Bara (this was the movie that made Bara a major sex symbol), but no movie paper is known from that version (to the best of my knowledge). Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good to very good. The poster was tattered in the blank borders and in the top blank area. There were some tears, creases, smudges, and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the image. There was a vertical fold down the center of the poster with creases along that fold. There were a few small tears within the image area, but the image area was generally in pretty good condition prior to backing. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). The poster was quite nicely backed, and the minor image area defects were expertly touched up, and the poster displays great!
