19 Original Vintage Stereoscopic Slides plus the Original Viewer in its Original Case (each of the 19 slides measures 3.25" by 4.5"; viewer measures 3.75" by 5") (Learn More)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the classic 1923 Wallace Worsley Universal silent Paris France Notre Dame Cathedral romantic religious historical horror melodrama ( "'Mighty Epic of a Mighty Epoch'"; adapted from the equally classic novel by Victor Hugo) starring Lon Chaney Sr. (in the title role as "Quasimodo", the Hunchback of Notre Dame), Patsy Ruth Miller (as Esmerelda), Norman Kerry, Kate Lester, Elmo Lincoln (best remembered for being the very first actor to portray Tarzan in the movies in 1918), and Winifred Bryson. Note that there was a wonderful sound remake of this classic silent movie in 1939, with Charles Laughton and Maureen O'Hara in the lead roles.

Important Added Info: Note that this auction is for an original 1923 Stereoscopic Slide Viewer (in its original case) plus 19 of the 20 original slides that were made to be used with this viewer! They are numbered on the back and have descriptions of the scene on front. Slides like this were one of the earliest versions of "3D", because when you looked at these slides in the viewer they appeared to be three dimensional. We have seen where an auction company reported selling another example of this viewer and ten of the slides from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and ten slides from Phantom of the Opera, and they reported that those sold for $3,824. We found another auction that reported a different viewer with ten Phantom of the Opera slides and they reported those sold for $2,194.75. The winner of this auction will receive the viewer, plus the 19 slides (missing one from the original set of 20). We also are auctioning in a separate auction five slides from Phantom of the Opera without a viewer. This is the very first time we have auctioned this viewer, or any of the slides from either movie!

Condition: very good. The slides are in really nice condition as is the viewer. The double-boxed case has much wear on the outer box, but it has no printing on it, and it (and the inner box, which has much lesser wear) did their job really well, which was to protect the viewer (see our images of the viewer, both boxes, and the fronts and backs of the 19 slides).
