The Adventurer, the 1917 Charles Chaplin silent prison escape slapstick comedy short (the Tramp starts out as a convict in prison, but he escapes, and he saves a mother and daughter from drowning and then "crashes" a swank party!) starring Charlie Chaplin (Charles Chaplin; as The Tramp), Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell, Henry Bergman, and Albert Austin

Important Added Info: Note that we have only had this poster at auction once before, and that time it auctioned for $815! There are very few German movie posters from before World War II in existence (because of the massive paper shortages in Germany during World War II), and most of those few are in museums. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: fair to good. The poster had a horizontal fold near the middle and a slightly diagonal fold 3" above that, and there were tears and paper loss in the left half of that added fold, falling in the waist area of the policeman Charlie and in the background to the left of his figure. Someone taped paper to the back of those areas and then performed amateur restoration in those areas. There is a similar area of paper loss in the policeman's hat at top center with small paper loss in the vertical fold above it. There are also tears and small paper loss around the edges. There is water staining in the blank bottom of the poster. The poster is fragile. While it has many defects, it is certainly true that a talented restorer can perform wonders with it, and after proper restoration, it will look fantastic, but bear in mind its defects and the cost of restoration before placing a bid.
