9 Original Vintage Theatrical Color 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More)

My Dear Miss Aldrich, the 1937 George B. Seitz newspaper journalism romantic comedy ("The Season's Gayest Love Story!"; "Original story and screen play by Herman J. Mankiewicz"; about an unmarried beautiful young schoolteacher who inherits a newspaper, and she goes to it together with her aunt, and she is shocked by the chauvinist attitudes of the employees, and she becomes a reporter on her own newspaper to show them that women can do the job just as well as men) starring Edna May Oliver, Maureen O'Sullivan (in the title role as Martha Aldrich), Walter Pidgeon, Rita Johnson, and Janet Beecher

Important Added Info: Note that this auction also includes the printed envelope this item originally came with, which has "THIS ENVELOPE CONTAINS ONE SET of COLOR-GLOS PHOTOS on" and then the title of the movie was stamped below it (see below for what "color-glos" means). The printed envelope has an 8 1/4" x 10 1/4" stiff board within it, which is how they sent the photos. Unless the buyer tells us otherwise, we will send the photos together with the printed bag (which measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/2") and the stiff board, but this will mean that this lot will need to ship in a larger flat package than our regular still packages. If the buyer prefers (and tells us by e-mail), we can either discard the bag and board or fold the bag in half, which will allow this item to be sent in a package that is the same as our regular still packages. Also note that these are "color-glos" stills. This was a special kind of color printing that the studios experimented with in the late 1930s and 1940s. It has a different effect than regular color printing, and color-glos stills were made in both an 8x10 and 11x14 format, primarily only for major releases. They are far more rare than regular color or black & white stills.

Condition: very good to fine.
