An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Big Gamble, the 1931 Fred Niblo gambling life insurance fraud romantic crime melodrama ("Story by Octavus Roy Cohen"; a contrived but fun story of a professional gambler who owes a mobster a lot of money, and he offers to take out life insurance for $100,000 and then kill himself so that the mobster will get the money; the mobster agrees to the deal but tells him that the only way he can collect the money is if the man waits a year to kill himself, and if he takes a fake "life" who can "inherit the money"; the mobster sets him up with a woman whose brother is also in trouble with the mobster, and the mobster tells her she can square her brother's debt by going along with the fake marriage; naturally, the two fall in love and decide life is worth living, but they have to figure out how to deal with the mobster) starring William Boyd (billed as "Bill Boyd"), Dorothy Sebastian, Warner Oland, James Gleason, and Zasu Pitts. Note that this movie is a remake of the 1926 movie "Red Dice" starring Rod La Rocque.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1931 movie posters from this early William Boyd movie are incredibly rare. We have never auctioned any movie paper except for a still and a glass slide from this movie until we received this one-sheet!

Condition: good. There is tiny paper loss at the crossfolds. There are extra creases, small tears, and a few tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds. There are pinholes around the edges, with some tiny paper loss. There was a 6" tear in the left of the top border that has tape on the front of it, and there are several tape repairs on the back of the top and bottom borders. This poster has clear defects, but it is incredibly rare, and it will look fantastic after being linenbacked by a talented professional, and it will require very little paint restoration within the image.
