An Original Vintage Theatrical INCOMPLETE Kraftbacked Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 39 1/2" x 58" [100 x 147 cm]) (Learn More)

Poisoned Paradise (also released as "The Forbidden Story", "Poisoned Paradise: The Forbidden Story of Monte Carlo", and "The Forbidden Story of Monte Carlo"), the 1924 Louis J. Gasnier silent Monte Carlo gambling melodrama ("Made from a book that is banned by Monte Carlo police because it tells the truth about the World's greatest gambling resort"; "based on the novel by Robert W. Service"; about a woman who loses all her money gambling at Monte Carlo, and she goes to work for an artist as his housekeeper, and discovers he has an unbeatable system to win at gambling; there is a subplot involving Clara Bow as a teen girl in a wheelchair, but we could not find out what that was about) starring Kenneth Harlan, Raymond Griffith, Clara Bow, Carmel Myers, and Barbara Tennant. Note that this movie is quite a mystery, for several reasons! First off, it appears that it may have been first released as "The Forbidden Story", because we have seen an incomplete three-sheet that has solely that title. It was then distributed through the states rights system by "Preferred Pictures" and it seems that at that point, the title changed to "Poisoned Paradise", and the other titles listed above. However, original poster material from this movie is so rare that it is difficult to be sure of what originally occurred! Also note that this movie was recently completely restored by the UCLA Film Archive.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have NEVER before auctioned any first release movie paper from this movie, under any of its various titles. Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 39 1/2" x 58" [100 x 147 cm]. Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 3 sections designed to overlap, but they were kraftbacked (see below). At some point after it was kraftbacked, someone trimmed off the bottom one-third of the poster, and only the top two-thirds remain. Finally, note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great!

Condition: fair. Note that only the top 2/3 of this poster is present. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept that only 2/3 of the poster is present! Note that it is very fortunate that the portion of the poster that is present contains the title and perhaps all the image (we have never seen the rest of the poster to know if there is any image on the missing bottom area, but that may well have solely been credits. Also, the poster was kraftbacked, and it has small paper loss in the left border, extending into the beginning of the title (see our image). Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored.
