An Original Vintage Unfolded East German Stage Play Poster (measures 22 3/4" x 32" [58 x 81 cm]) (Learn More) Die Rauber (literally translates to "The Robbers"), the 1971 East German stage play production (of the play by Friedrich Schiller, which was first published in 1781 towards the end of the German Sturm und Drang ["Storm and Stress"] movement) which was held at the Volksbuhne in Berlin, East Germany. Note that this poster features art of a man with sword and crown If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that silkscreen (also known as screen printing) is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a poster. Only one color is printed at a time, so several screens must be used to produce a multicolored design, and it is a laborious technique because it is traditionally all done by hand. Because of the rich thickness of the layer of color on the paper and the resulting depth and brilliance achieved through silkscreen printing, this technique was preferred by many artists throughout many cultures and periods. Condition: good to very good. The poster was placed on to a very thin linen backing shortly after being printed. The purpose was to reinforce the poster, so that it would survive, when it was passed from theater to theater, and when it was put up on walls and taken down. Such posters can be professionally removed from the original linen and placed on to a proper linen backing. I have done this to several such posters, and they end up looking wonderful. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
