An Original 1940s (from the first release of this movie in Belgium) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 16 1/4" x 23 1/4" [41 x 59 cm]) (Learn More)

The Ape Man, the 1943 William Beaudine science fiction (sci-fi) monster horror thriller (based on the story by Karl Brown) starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as the monster, Dr. James Brewster), Louise Currie, Wallace Ford, Henry Hall, Minerva Urecal, and Emil Van Horn (as the gorilla). Note that Ray 'Crash' Corrigan and Charles Gemora were two actors who played lots of gorillas in movies in the 1930s and 1940s. Emil Van Horn and Jack Leonard each played around a dozen gorillas, and interestingly, that was all they did (no doubt all four of them owned a gorilla suit!).

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had an extra fold across the middle, with some creases, scuffs, and separation on parts of the folds. The poster once had some tape on the back of parts of the folds, with tape on the back of tears in the left and right borders, where there were also some pinholes and smudges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
