An Original Vintage Linenbacked World War II Poster (measures 18" x 24" [46 x 61 cm]) (Learn More)

Your Job Is To - Spot 'Em, Plot 'Em and Pot 'Em!, the 1942 U.S. World War II (WWII) military pilot training poster featuring great cartoon artwork of a pilot not doing his job (not paying attention, being seen by an enemy submarine, and then letting the submarine escape), and a pilot doing his job correctly (spotting the submarine from afar, plotting it's course and then sinking the sub). Note that we have been able to find information about the vast majority of World War II posters because they are contained in one or more archives, including the Library of Congress, but oddly, we could not find ANYWHERE that seems to have this poster, so it is surely extremely rare! We could not even find information about the artist, who sadly was not allowed to sign his work. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfold, with some tiny bits of paper loss in the bottom half of the vertical fold and in the bottom white area to the left of the vertical fold. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
