An Original Vintage Linenbacked Stage Play Poster (measures 30" x 40 1/2" [76 x 103 cm]) (Learn More)

A Lady of Quality, the circa 1900 W. M. Wilkinson stage play production (of the work by Frances Hodgson Burnett and Stephen Townesend) starring Eugenie Blair. Eugenie Blair was an American stage actress from the 1880s to the 1920s. She toured extensively in her youth but is likely best remembered for originating the role of Marthy Owen in the premiere 1921 Broadway presentation of Eugene O'Neill's play Anna Christie. She died in her dressing room after a show in 1922 at the age of 58.

Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this stage play poster!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster was folded once in each direction and had some tiny bits of paper loss on both folds. It had tears, stains, and small paper loss around the edges, with larger paper loss in the bottom left corner, slightly entering the green background. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster is in urgent need of restoration, either with or without re-backing, but in spite of its many defects, the image is basically "all there", and after proper restoration, this very rare poster will display well!
