An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French Movie Poster (measures 23 1/4" x 31 1/2") (Learn More)

L'Affiche De Cinema De 1895 A 1946, the 1946 French museum poster promoting the very first exhibit of movie posters in Paris, France (there were no exhibitions of movie posters in the United States that I am aware of until the 1980s). Note that the poster includes recreated art of the 1895 French poster, Cinematographe Lumiere, which shows an audience watching the very first comedy movie ever made, "Watering the Gardner", which had art by Auzolle. Note that the art in this poster is signed "Rojac d'apres Auzolle", which means that French artist Rojac created the poster in the style of the original French Cinematographe Lumiere poster by Auzolle (Rojac did the art in this poster, not Auzolle).
Artist: Roger Jacquier
Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this French movie! Also note that this French poster measures 23 1/4" x 31 1/2" and is linenbacked.

Condition: fine. The poster was folded once across the center. It had pinholes in the top corners and a 2" tear in the center of the top border. There was light wear along the foldlines and some very minor defects in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and looks great!
