An Original Vintage Theatrical Australian Movie Campaign Book (measures 9 1/4" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 62 pages) (Learn More) Metro-Goldwyn Pictures, the 1924 Australian Metro-Goldwyn campaign book featuring images and information on upcoming Metro-Goldwyn movies including: Ben-Hur, The Big Parade, The Tower of Lies, The Navigator and Seven Chances (both starring Buster Keaton), Greed and The Merry Widow (directed by Erich von Stroheim), The White Sister, The Unholy Three, He Who Gets Slapped, and The Monster (all three with Lon Chaney Sr.) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is the Australian campaign book. It is somewhat similar to the U.S. campaign book for the same year but a knowledgeable collector tells us that there are differences in the cover design and content (likely due to a different release schedule). The final page is entitled "Metro-Goldwyn Films Ltd. specializing in service to exhibitors in Australia and New Zealand", which gives information about who headed the MGM offices in those two countries. There is also a small box at the bottom that says "This book is entirely an Australian production and is a testimony to Australian brains and craftsmanship". There are a couple of credits, and then it says "Entirely set up and printed by Messrs. Waste & Bull, Sydney". Condition: good. There is a really cool fold-out section where two facing pages fold out, to form a 4-page spread showing headshots all of MGM's stars, with pictures of the Hollywood studio beneath it. Sadly, someone cut out a small triangular section (approximately 2" x 1 1/2") from the extreme left of this fold-out. It mostly only affects one photo of the studio, but it is still unfortunate. The covers have many stains, and the spine has wear, but most of the interior pages are in pretty nice condition (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
