An Original Vintage Linenbacked Circus Poster (measures 27 3/4" x 42 1/2") (Learn More)

Sam B. Dill's 3 Ring Circus, the circa 1930s poster advertising Sam B. Dill's 3 Ring Circus coming to town ("Featuring Tom Mix & Tony"). Note that there is an extensive history of this circus available on the Internet, and by reading that, it is clear that the main attraction of this circus was Tom Mix and Tony, and that other than the stars, the circus consisted of mostly second rate acts. This poster is from one of the earliest performances of the circus (it started in January of 1934, but did not have performances until later). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good to very good. The poster had many creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster (with large paper loss in the top right corner, extending into the tip of the "7", and slightly smaller paper loss in the top left corner, extending into the tip of the "S"). There were creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss along parts of foldlines, and there were some creases and tears between the foldlines. The poster was pretty well linenbacked, but the restorer did only rudimentary restoration, and it is noticeable. The poster was roughly handled over the years, and it is "lifting" from the linen in some places in the borders.
