An Original Undated (probably circa 1960s) Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14 1/4" x 21 1/2" [36 x 55 cm]) (Learn More)

Trotacalles (Released in English-speaking countries as "Streetwalker"), the 1951 Matilde Landeta Mexican prostitution crime melodrama (about two sisters and the tragic result of their revenge on one another; one is forced into prostitution after running away with her sister's boyfriend, who leaves her on the street; the other has an affair with her sister's pimp, unaware of his true identity) starring Miroslava, Ernesto Alonso, Elda Peralta, Miguel Angel Ferriz, and Isabela Corona. Note that this is a forgotten movie that has a really great "bad girl" poster. But it starred Miroslava Sternova (always billed as "Miroslava"), who was a fascinating tragic Czechoslovakian actress. She was adopted by Jewish parents (although she was not Jewish), and the entire family barely escaped death in the concentration camps. They ended up in Mexico, where she won a beauty contest, and went to Hollywood to become an actress, but because of her "ethnic" looks, she did not have much success, but she had torrid love affairs, including one with a U.S. soldier, who was killed in action during World War II, after which she attempted suicide. She appeared in a number of Mexican movies, often playing bad girls or sleazy women. She got a giant break in 1955, getting a lead role in Luis Bunuel's "The Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz", but she committed suicide as the movie was opening, after yet another failed love affair. She was only 30 years old. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
