Achetez des Obligations de la Victoire (literally translates to "Buy Victory Bonds"), the 1942 Canadian World War II (WWII) War Bonds poster ("Pour que bientat il me revienne..." which translates to "So that he will come back to me soon") encouraging people to buy war bonds, and featuring art of a woman hugging a departing soldier
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster was likely printed in two versions. The images are the same, but one has English, and one has French (for the French speaking portion of Canada). This auction is for the French language version (we have never auctioned the English language version, but we presume that it exists). Also note that we have auctioned many U.S. World War II posters that were designed to be displayed to the general public to encourage them to help in the war effort, but now we have been consigned 10 similar very rare Canadian World War II posters, and they we are currently auctioning them in 10 separate auctions!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had a diagonal crease in the top left and bottom right corners, and a 6" faint horizontal crease in the top of the right border, going into the "ntot". Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
