Darwin was Right, the 1924 Lewis Seiler silent screwball fountain-of-youth ape comedy ("William Fox Presents the Human Monkeys in 'Darwin Was Right' [with apologies to P.T. Barnum]"; "Story by Edward Moran"; about a wacky scientist who invents an elixir that is supposed to make you young again, and he is about to test it out, but is kidnapped, and coincidentally, some small children wander in his house, and his relatives think that he and his assistants have been turned into small children by his elixir, and then the movie gets even wackier when some escaped chimpanzees wander in the house and his relatives think that the children have been made so youthful that they have turned into their distant ancestors, chimpanzees!) starring Nell Brantley, George O'Hara, Stanley Blystone, Dan Mason, Lon Poff, and Merta Sterling. Starting in 1923, Lewis Seiler directed a series of around a dozen movies like this one for William Fox, each using chimps acting in "human" roles, but we don't know more about this movie, or any of the others. We know that after this, Seiler stayed with William Fox and worked on some of the Tom Mix movies, and then switched to Warner Bros., and was involved in some of their gangster movies, like Crime School. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Artist: J.Y. Ranok
Important Added Info: Note that what is being auctioned is a two page spread from a Fox campaign book (almost surely the 1923-1924 book). The two pages were removed from the book and someone put two pieces of tape on the back, thus joining them as intended (see our image).

Condition: very good. The two pages were removed from a book and joined with tape (see above).
