An Original Vintage Theatrical Die-Cut Movie Standee (the bottom piece measures approximately 39" x 48" at it's longest points; the top piece measures approximately 34" x 42" at it's widest point; assembled the figure of Clint Eastwood is almost exactly 6 feet tall, so it is likely close to exactly "life-size") (Learn More)

Dirty Harry, the classic 1971 Don Siegel San Francisco California police detective action crime thriller ("Detective Harry Callahan. He doesn't break murder cases. He smashes them."; "You don't assign him to murder cases. You just turn him loose."; "Dirty Harry and the homicidal maniac. Harry's the one with the badge."; about an unorthodox cop who tracks down a psychotic murderer; based on the real-life Zodiac killer who terrorized San Francisco, California in the 1960s) starring Clint Eastwood (in the title role as Harry Callahan), Harry Guardino, Reni Santoni, Andrew Robinson (in the role of his life as the crazed psycho killer!; billed as "Andy Robinson"), John Larch, John Vernon ("as 'The Mayor'"), Lyn Edington, and Bill Couch

Important Added Info: Note that this classic movie had a very imaginative ad campaign, with striking (and different) images for the one-sheet, three-sheet, insert, half-sheet, and six-sheet. I THOUGHT I had seen an example of every poster from this campaign, but then I was just consigned this amazing die-cut standee, with Eastwood standing full length with his .44 magnum handgun (the most powerful handgun there is!) pointed in front of him in the classic shooting pose! I can't imagine all that many theaters got this standee when the movie opened (for it was the first in the series, and completely unknown that it would be such a hit), and of the theaters that DID get it, I would think the vast majority of them were trashed soon after the movie played, especially because it is die-cut and three-dimensional, and therefore had a far greater likelihood of being broken into pieces. I have never seen or heard of another example of this standee! It was consigned to us by a theater owner who showed the movie at his theater in 1971, and who thought this standee was "pretty cool", and stored it ever since, until just a couple of weeks ago when he hand-delivered it to us!

Also, note that the bottom piece measures approximately 39" x 48" at it's longest points, the top piece measures approximately 34" x 42" at it's widest point, and when assembled the figure of Clint Eastwood is almost exactly 6 feet tall, so it is likely close to exactly "life-size"! FINALLY, NOTE THAT BECAUSE THIS POSTER IS SO LARGE, AND CAN NOT BE FOLDED OR ROLLED, AND BECAUSE IT IS VERY FRAGILE, AND WILL NEED TO BE PACKED QUITE CAREFULLY IN A LARGE FLAT PACKAGE, we don't know how much it will cost to ship outside the U.S., but it would almost certainly be VERY expensive, so please bear that in mind PRIOR to placing a bid on this item (if you live outside the U.S.).

Condition: very good. The standee was made in two pieces. The top piece contains Eastwood's body from the waist up, and the bottom piece contains his body from the waist down. We have provided images of the top and bottom pieces, along with images of the back of both pieces. We have also provided a large image of the two pieces joined together, which is how it will appear when the two pieces are properly joined (as intended). Note that, as is clearly evident in our photos, the standee was extremely carefully assembled and then dis-assembled for the "armature" on the back is in excellent condition, very unusual for 36 year-old standees! The top piece has much more small die-cut surfaces than the bottom piece, and is in lesser condition than the bottom piece. There is a cut in the end of the "barrel" of the gun Eastwood is pointing (the small part where the barrel extends past the body of the gun). It is still attached, but barely. There are some creases and scuffs scattered in Eastwood's hands and jacket, but only a couple of tiny ones in the back of Eastwood's head, in his sideburn, and in the bottom of his hair. There is a horizontal crease across his jacket, just above his pocket. The bottom piece has a crease in the part of the end of Eastwood's name that is die-cut and extends out on its own (the "OOD"). There is a partial vertical crease in the black area to the right of the "Y" of "HARRY". There are many light water stains in the blank area below the title, and someone handwrote the words "Now Showing" at the top of that area. There are creases and tiny areas of paper loss in the left of Eastwood's foot, at the bottom left of the standee. There are scuffs and tiny areas of surface paper loss in the upper part of Eastwood's pants. There is a diagonal scuff line running across the "H" of "HARRY" in the title. WHILE THE ABOVE CERTAINLY ADDS UP TO MANY SMALL DEFECTS, I THINK IT IS FAIR TO SAY THAT THIS STANDEE HAS SURVIVED IN ABOUT AS GOOD CONDITION AS AN ACTUAL THEATER-USED STANDEE COULD HAVE HOPED TO HAVE SURVIVED! Certainly, a restorer could perform touch up to these defects, but none of them are all that distracting, and all they really do to me is make it clear that this is actually an original vintage standee! If I were to perform any restoration, it would be to clean up the blank area at the bottom of the standee. Whether or not this great standee is restored, I certainly hope it will be displayed!

This poster has survived in pretty good condition, but has some imperfections. We may have written a few words about those imperfections, but we may not have, as you can likely see them by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster. We feel that this poster would be acceptable to most collectors, but if you are condition conscious (or if you would be bothered by small defects that are not easily discernable from our larger images) then you should not bid on this poster. Note that many "larger" size posters have tiny defects, like creases and tears on some foldlines, and tiny paper loss at crossfolds, even if they are completely unused and in quite nice condition. If you are like most collectors, and are forgiving of minor defects, then we think you will likely be happy with all items we grade "very good"!
