An Original Vintage Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)
Dead End, the classic 1937 William Wyler New York City poor-people-in-the-slums-living-side-by-side-with-rich-people crime thriller ("Drama that roars fullblooded from the screen"; "Based on the play by Sidney Kingsley"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; written by Lillian Hellman) starring Sylvia Sidney, Joel McCrea, Humphrey Bogart (sensational as "Baby Face Martin"), Wendy Barrie, Marjorie Main (as Bogart's mother who rejects him), The Dead End Kids (Billy Hallop, Huntz Hall, Bobby Jordan, Leo Gorcey, Gabriel Dell, and Bernard Punsly, in their very first movie!; billed as "The Dead End Kids from the original New York stage cast"), Claire Trevor (as Bogart's ex-girlfriend, now a prostitute, in her nominated for Best Supporting Actress Academy Award role), Allen Jenkins, and Ward Bond (as the doorman!)

Important Added Info: Note that neither Humphrey Bogart nor the Dead End Kids (who had not yet gotten that nickname, as this was their first movie) were highly billed in this movie. But in the years after, they became the best-remembered part of this movie. The lobby card offered here is the only lobby card to show Bogart and the Dead End Kids, and it is from the classic scene where he instructs them in knife throwing!
Condition: good to very good. the entire card has faded slightly due to exposure from sunlight (if you were not told this, you would likely not know it, as the fading does not hurt the appearance of the card); water stains down the right 1" of the card, mostly in the right blank border, but extending into the right edge of the image; a 1" tear in the upper part of the right border (repaired with tape from the back); many staple holes and light smudges around the edges of the image. The card is in better condition than the above makes it sound! The card has an overall good appearance, except for the stains in the right border, which would be matted out during framing. Of course, a talented restorer could greatly improve the appearance of this card, but I would think many collectors would be happy to display it just as it is!
